I’m not really a fan of traditional lip gloss. You might be surprised to hear that from a certified lip balm junkie and Beauty Blogger but it’s true! Like all good researchers, I’ve tried and tested my fair share of lip gloss from all across the board, inexpensive, high-end, natural, cult-favourites, you name it, I’ve tried it and only a few, and I mean few, have won my seal of approval. I find them to either be too sticky, too thick, too thin, too unnatural (I eat this stuff for goodness sake!) or just plain wrong in general. Today I’m sharing with you one of my very rare lucky winners, Emani Vegan Cosmetics Lip Shine in Clear.
When I was first sent my sample package from Emani, I have to say, this was the item I was least excited about. I’ve been sent and bought so many lip glosses over the years that have been nothing but disappointing that I wasn’t going to put much stock into this one – especially since it was a 100% vegan formulation. I love (and generally prefer) all natural and organic products, but sometimes they just don’t live up to their traditional counterparts, lip gloss is one of those such products, so when I actually got around to testing this out I was pretty shocked and pleased with my results!
First off, Emani Lip Shine comes in a gigantic tube! I’m not sure if it’s just the packaging that makes it appear larger, or if there is actually a ton of product in here (I threw out the box) but either way, it’s hefty! What makes this gloss different than others is it’s impressively hydrating ingredient list which includes Castor Seed Oil, Jojoba Esters, Candelilla Wax, Olive Oil, Grape Seed Extract and Vitamin E with none of the bad stuff you don’t want to be eating like Parabens, Petrolatum, or any animal by-products for people who practice a completely Vegan lifestyle. All these good ingredients work to give a great shine to lips as well as acting like a super hydrating lip treatment and locking in moisture.
I love the healthy shine this gives to lips without making it took extremely glossy and without it feeling sticky! The texture is closer to that of a liquid-like balm that stays on lips but doesn’t annoy me or get all of my hair stuck in it. Funnily enough, I can’t find the clear shade on any website right now but their colours look stunning! I really want to try Blush and and Rain Maker for a “my-lips-but-better” look.
Emani is now available at select London Drugs locations in Canada but I’ve yet to see it at my smaller town store. Have you seen Emani around? Let me know in the comments!
