Welcome to my new segment – What Would I Do Without It? Wednesdays! This idea came to me when I was in the shower. Yes, in the shower. I was thinking about the items in my bathroom that I use every single day without fail, yet they never seem to make it onto the blog. Sometimes I actually forget about my favourite things because they are often in no state to be photographed (because I use them so often) or they are instantly in the shower/on the sink/in my bag as soon as I (re)buy them! Therefore, I thought I would make a special weekly post just for these items so they get the spotlight they deserve!
The first product in my What Would I Do Without It? segment is none other than L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil. This product is like nothing else I have ever used. I actually first came across it when looking for a product that wouldn’t make my already itchy, dry skin worse but would still get me clean. I know all of you dry skinned girls know what I’m talking about!
I was initially on the hunt for Eucerin Calming Shower Oil after searching review after review for dry skin products, but I quickly came to realize I wasn’t going to find that in Canada. Then one day at Sephora I received a 500 point perk that included this shower oil from L’Occitane along with some other great products! I was instantly hooked, ordered a full size and haven’t looked back.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from a shower oil. It seemed really contradictory to me. But then again, I use oil cleansers on my face all the time so why wouldn’t I use one on my body? L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil has the most amazing texture. It’s a not too heavy, not too light oil that turns into a seriously luxurious foaming milk that rinses cleanly once you add water. It leaves skin feeling clean but just as hydrated as if you got out of the shower and slathered on a body lotion!
Another thing that makes this What Would I Do Without It? worthy is the smell! Oh my goodness, don’t even get me started on the smell. If you haven’t smelled anything from the L’Occitane Almond line I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s a very soothing, rich and comforting scent – and I guess it does smell a bit like almond, well, more like marzipan. It’s sweet, but not too sweet, rich but not too rich and my boyfriend loves it. It also lingers around for a while and if you top it off with the ultra-rich Almond Supple Skin Oil or the lighter Almond Milk Veil, or the newest Almond Milk Concentrate (I own two of the three) – you’ll be sure to have people asking what it is you’re wearing!
And the icing on this deliciously almond flavoured cake? The natural ingredient list that includes Grape Seed oil, Almond Oil, Sunflower Seed oil, Rosemary and Bergamot. If you’re looking for a truly luxurious shower experience without going to the spa or on an extravagant vacation, I highly recommend L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil. I can’t say enough about this product, but if I have to say something, all I can say is try it, you won’t be disappointed.
