Hello everyone! Today I have part of an amazing collection to share with you from L’Oreal Paris Canada. If you’ll remember way back to last year (I know, so many products cloud our memories) there was a new launch called L’Oreal Collection Privee which featured exclusive nude shades made for L’Oreal Paris Spokesmodels of all different ethnicities. This year, it’s back with a bang! Now being called Collection Exclusive Nudes (and available June 2014), it features new nude shades for Doutzen Kroes, Eva Longoria, Freida Pinto, Jennifer Lopez, Liya Kebede and Julianne Moore – all with a corresponding lipstick and nail colour.
I decided to start off in the L’Oreal Paris Collection Exclusive Nudes (Available June 2014) with none other than Eva Longoria – partially because I think she’s adorable and partially because it’s the first lipstick I grabbed out of the bag… just being honest. Above is a photo of the Colour Riche Lipstick in 610 Eva’s Nude without and with flash. Obviously, the shade is closer to the natural light photo but I still wanted the flash for comparisons sake.
I can’t help but wondering how awesome it would be to have a nude shade made just for you! I probably would wear it every single day because, why not? It’s your perfect nude! Anyway, back to the collection. I love that L’Oreal made sure to wide variety of ethnicities in their models so that everyone could find their perfect nude shade. I will be reviewing them all, but please keep in mind that not all of them will suit my skin tone – but they may look perfect on you!
I want to describe L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Eva’s Nude as a very warm, peach-toned nude with no shimmer and a satin finish. For me personally it’s a bit too dark (but still wearable) and I assume that it would look great on anyone with a Medium complexion and dark or honey brown hair who tends to look good in peachier/warmer tones. (Note: It tends to look much more orange on my pastier than pasty arm!)
Worn on my lips, Eva’s Nude is quite pretty and actually matches the undertone of my lips well. I find it to be a touch too dark to be a true nude on me though and I think I’ll find more luck with Julianne or Doutzen’s nudes. (And if anyone is wondering what the dark mark is below my lip, it’s a scar from my old lip ring. Didn’t heal well, I don’t recommend it.)
To go with each lip colour, there is a L’Oreal Colour Riche Nail Colour. This is the one to go with Eva’s Nude lipstick – and I have to say, I’m kind of surprised! I personally like the look of this colour in the bottle and it has a hint of golden shimmer that is barely perceptible on the nails. One coat and you get a light golden shimmer, two coats and you get an opaque, almost yellow-toned nude. I found it strange that the undertones of the lipstick and the polish were so drastically different and in my opinion, I don’t like them together – but I do like them separate.
Here is what I mean. Do you all see it too? I just don’t think they go. Maybe with a different skin tone it would be different but on myself it just bothers me to look at. I like the nail polish on it’s own though! L’Oreal makes one of my favourite polish formulas and I’ve yet to have a bad one. This one is no exception. It applies nicely with their wider brush, dries quickly and wears really well.
Overall, the L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick and L’Oreal Colour Riche Nail Colour in Eva’s Nudes are definitely pretty and have the same great formulations as all other L’Oreal colours in the ranges. I’m excited to see the other nudes in the collection. Which do you think would suit you best?
