Hey Everyone! Today I have my all time favourite Mascara routine to share with you. I’m such a sucker for any mascara that promises big, bold, thick lashes and Too Faced Better Than Sex definitely claims to do all three of those things – and more!

Not only does Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara promise gigantic volume, (we are talking 1,944% more here people!) the packaging also promises base-to-tip curl, longer lashes and all of this in only one coat. Sounds too good to be true, right? It’s not!

Ever since the first time I tried this mascara I was hooked. My lashes were huge, curled and long enough to touch my eyebrows, I have died and gone to mascara heaven!

Too Faced Better Than Sex boasts a big (but not cumbersome) hourglass shaped brush with standard bristles (not the rubber kind). The formula is dense, creamy and blacker than black to coat every lash quickly and effectively. Personally, I find the formula gets better as the tube goes on, it can start out a bit too wet. This mascara doesn’t clump no matter how much I apply! It gives me perfectly defined and next to fake looking lashes without dipping the wand in the tube again. It doesn’t smear once it’s set, but it does take a bit longer to set than regular mascaras so give yourself some time for it to dry (and try not to sneeze, I swear I sneeze every time I apply mascara!). It wears so well throughout the day and it’s the first mascara I’ve used that has brought me multiple compliments, even from complete strangers! However, I find if I do more than one coat (dipping the brush back in the tube and applying again) it can have more of a tendency to flake near the end of the day – but still nothing drastic, or even really noticeable.

So why do I have Le Volume De Chanel pictured above if I love this mascara so much? I’ll tell you!

One thing I don’t like about Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara is for use on the bottom lashes. It’s much to thick and volumizing to look any sort of real, and unless you want spider legs growing out of your lower eye, I wouldn’t try it. Enter, Le Volume De Chanel in Khaki Bronze – a less intense, more defining and softer approach to volumizing mascara. I find pitch black can be harsh on the bottom lashes, so when I found Le Volume De Chanel in a beautiful golden green shade, I had to try it! I have green(ish) eyes and thought this might make them pop – and it does! Le Volume De Chanel‘s formula is lighter and wetter than Too Faced Better Than Sex, it also has a silicone bristle brush to help grab every little lash and give great definition.

Here is a before and after (please disregard my unkempt eyebrows, they needed a good coat of brow gel!). As you can tell, the Too Faced Better Than Sex makes a dramatic difference to the upper lashes while the Le Volume De Chanel gives a more subtle, definition to the bottom. I have been forgoing eyeliner and shadow with this pair because I love having my lashes be the star!

WOW! Love the dramatic lashes that Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara gave you! My favourite mascara of the moment is Covergirl Bombshell volume by LashBlast. It came in the Elle Canada Spring 2014 Beauty Box I got last month. At first I didn’t think I would like it because of the over sized tube.

I’ve tried a couple different brands with the huge tube and it was awkward for me because the handle for the brush is also huge! LOL! And the actual wand is shorter than I’m used to. For some reason, it felt like I was going to poke my eye out if I got too close. Hahaha But after the first use I fell in love.

It’s a two step mascara wand. Step One: Apply the extreme volume base coat. Step Two: Finish with the intensifying top coat. You should try it out. I’d love to hear what you think. 🙂
