Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Review + Swatches

After much anticipation they are finally here in Canada, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lipstains! I, like many of you, was so excited to finally be able to get my hands on these after seeing all the hype from our US beauty friends. It seems like the perfect combination – a balm that stains lips with beautiful colour? I’m definitely in for that!

I’m a lip balm girl. I always have at least 3 lip balms in my purse for all different kinds of lip emergencies and rarely are they ever tinted. I’ve just started getting into wearing lipsticks and colour on my lips but what I dislike about it is how often you have to reapply! In my line of work I can’t be running to the washroom to check my lipstick ever 20 minutes, I need something that will either stay put, or I can put on without a mirror!

These are almost both! You can re-apply without a mirror, but don’t initially apply without a mirror, won’t be pretty! I didn’t really expect a balm to be able to stain or even stay on my lips, but these really do stain (just ask my arm that STILL has swatches on it!) and last quite a while. In the above photo I have (left to right) Smitten, Sweetheart, Cherish, Honey, Charm and Precious.

Most are very true to the packaging colour, and because there is only one tester (in the shade sweetheart) you have to trust the packaging! The only two I was surprised about were Honey and Smitten, but they look very true to the packaging shade once applied to the lips. I was very curious about a long-lasting light coloured stain! Could that work? Kinda.

To my surprise, Smitten and Sweetheart actually look quite similar swatched, but once on the lips they look much different. I also thought Charm and Precious  looked very similar, but again, don’t look very alike once on the lips. My favourites of the bunch are definitely Precious and Honey! They are both “your lips but better” nude shades with Honey being more of a rosy nude and Precious coming off as a brighter nude (not beige at all!). Charm doesn’t really show up on my lips which disappoints me because I’ve seen some gorgeous swatches of it online, maybe my lips are too pigmented? The darker the shade the better the staying power but the lighter ones still stay on very well throughout the day!

I really like all of these. They exceeded my expectations (I wasn’t expecting much haha) with the staying power of the colour and the moisturization of the “balm” component. I expected my lips to end up very dry and flaky like with most other lip stains but they actually feel hydrated even after it’s mostly worn off.
