Yet another continuation of my ELF stash (expect a lot of these haha) is the e.l.f. Essential Lipstick in Gypsy. I bought quite a few of these lipsticks because at only $1.00, there isn’t a shade you can’t try! Even if you pick a colour completely over-the-top that you would never wear it’s only $1.00 so you should at least try it, right? Well, that’s what I did anyway. Being a fairly new comer to lipstick (never been much of a fan) I decided I would go all out and try a few crazy and bright shades, Gypsy being one of them!
I must say I didn’t expect much from a $1.00 lipstick and being someone who doesn’t like the feel of lipstick I didn’t think these would get much attention, but I was wrong. These lipsticks are incredibly creamy and feel almost like balm on the lips, I’m not sure if they are hydrating or not, that’s just the texture I feel. The colour glides on evenly and cleanly with no patching or skips. There also seems to be a ton of products in these tubes, maybe I just don’t know much about lipstick packaging but I don’t think I’ll ever finish one of these no matter how much I wear it!
This particular shade was one of those “Meh, I’ll add that to my cart too – it’s half off, why not?” shades that I never expected to like, but then again, it’s hard to tell if you’ll like anything you order off the website because the swatches are so hit and miss! But, Gypsy turned out to be a gorgeous purple-y, fuchsia that actually doesn’t look overwhelmingly dark on my pale skin, it seems to brighten it up and make my face light up a bit! The finish is a fairly shiny, cream but not as opaque as some of the others (probably a good thing for this particular shade).
I actually have grown to love this shade and will definitely be wearing brights more often. They totally change the way your face looks and lift your mood! If you’re looking to try out a new shade I would definitely recommend visiting www.eyeslipsface.com and picking up some of these $1.00 lipsticks while they are still on sale! I have almost all of them right now with more on the way so I will be able to review each one. If you have any requests on a colour you would like to see next, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment or tweet me!
