ELF Essential Bronzer

Who doesn’t want a great matte bronzer? There is a time and a place for the gorgeous shimmering bronzers but sometimes we want a more believable “just-from-the-tropics” bronze or something we can contour with. There is always the ever-reliable Benefit Hoola but the price tag leaves a lot to be desired. I love mine and have had it for years without hitting pan but I’m still hunting for a dupe.

I was hoping this ELF Essentials Bronzer in Matte Bronze would come to the rescue and do it for only $1. I can’t say that it fulfilled all of my matte bronzer requirements but it’s still a great contender nonetheless.

  • Matte Bronze – $1.00
Well right off the bat you can see from the photo that this is not matte. It actually has quite large, but sparse chunks of glitter laced through out. Kind of a strange finish. It has really good pigmentation and comes out very true to the pan shade, which is much darker than I expected. On my pale skin its pretty much unwearable unless I want some serious contour.
The colour of it is a good one for a contour bronzer as there is no red or orange undertone, it’s a true brown. When I look at the swatch photo I always think there’s just some strange shadow on my hand, which I guess is what you look for in a good contour powder! The finish isn’t chalky, it applies smoothly and doesn’t fade. This is a good buy for $1 if you’re looking for a semi-matte bronzer or a contour powder!

PS – For any of my Canadian Beauties thinking about placing an order, I had a good experience with my last order. Although you don’t receive a tracking number, it arrived quicker than some things I order from Canada (8 days) and the customer service was awesome. They also always have great coupon codes and if you pay through PayPal you won’t get charged the extra international shipping!
