Ombre Eyeliner + Review

Drugstore, Eyeliner, Physicians Formula / Friday, June 8th, 2012

Hey everyone, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted a “look” and after receiving my Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Liners in Smokey Eyes I decided to take a little inspiration from the “ombre” trend and morph it into an eyeliner look.

I’ve never owned a silver or charcoal liner before these ones and I have to say they are universally flattering and really easy to pull off! These particular pencils have shimmer infused into them and give the eyes a subtle sparkle when you blink or catch them in the light.

Like many of the other Shimmer Strips products by Physicians Formula these sets come in specific eye colour shades as well as Smokey looks.

I was lucky enough to win a Twitter giveaway from Physicians Formula (@PFcosmetics) a while back and this was included as one of my prizes! I’m always thrilled to receive new black liner, you can never have too many, and the other coordinating “ombre” of shades were great additions too! My pencils are a little dull in this photo (I use them a lot) but luckily these mechanical pencils come equipped with built-in sharpeners on each end!

They aren’t the most pigmented liners I’ve ever used, as you can tell from the swatches, but they do impart really pretty colour and a lighter look. I really do love how they show up on the eye – here are a few more photos:

*Please ignore my random two long hairs and strange coloured eyes haha

I really like the effect this gives going from silver on the inner corner to charcoal to rich black. It’s subtle but noticeable and it really brightens up the eyes. I’m really wanting to do this with coloured liners now!

As for the wear of these liners – it isn’t great. I have pretty oily lids and they tend to fade throughout the day. I’m willing to go through a little extra work of re-applying and making sure to have a good base on in order to wear these gorgeous liners though!

Have you ever worn an ombre liner look? Let me know in the comments!
