Get Glowing Skin for Under $5

E.l.f., Face Products, Illuminator / Thursday, May 24th, 2012

I’m a self-proclaimed highlighter, illuminator, radiance enhancer ADDICT. I’m fairly certain that 75% of my makeup collection consists of skin products labelled “illuminator”. I’ll be the first to admit that I have an obsession with flawless looking skin. I love taking care of my skin, using great skin care products and of course, highlighting that! I personally think having dewy looking skin makes anyone look younger and healthier. I used to be a “matte” junkie thinking that having a completely shine free complexion would look more natural but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Anyway, to the point! This is E.L.F.’s Radiance Enhancer in Spotlight.

I find that highlighters are like wine – the more you spend on it, the better it tastes (or looks, you know what I mean!). Usually inexpensive highlighters are super noticeable with large pieces of shimmer and glitter which yes, looks youthful but not in the way you are looking for! That general conclusion doesn’t stop me from picking up and trying inexpensive highlighters, there simply has to be a good one out there, and I just may have found it with this baby!

I’ve had hit and miss experiences with E.L.F. products, some perform great while others, well, you get what you pay for. That, coupled with the inexpensive highlighter conundrum, left me extremely skeptical of this $3.00 highlighter. The good news is I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, I like the applicator. For highlighters I think this kind of packaging works really well because you can control where you’re placing it and not get too much product at one time. Second, this particular colour is great for us fair skinned gals – not too dark and not too silver. Third, there are other shade options for darker skins or different looks which is great. Oh, and I guess most importantly, it gives a fairly natural, not too glittery highlight that looks really pretty on the skin.

This highlighter gives a subtle pearlized sheen rather than a glaring glittery highlight, which is great for anyones skin. I would definitely recommend this if you are in the market for a pretty highlight that is super inexpensive but still gives an expensive look. And for $3.00, you really can’t go wrong!
