I’m literally always on the hunt for the best bronzer out there. I find myself repeatedly let down either in performance, colour or shimmer overload when trying out new bronzers. So when I came across The Body Shop’s new Honey Bronzing Powder, clearly, I had to give it a try. I was shocked to find out it was a matte¬†bronzer! They are so hard to come by (well, not so much lately as more and more companies are coming out with them) and with The Body Shop’s reputation of makeup I definitely expected some intense shimmer. Another surprising trait is that they are available in 4 shades! Yep, you heard right four! They range from the lightest of the light for super fair skin tones to get a little sunshine, to deeper, darker shades for olive to dark skin tones. You can also just pick which intensity you’d like, the way I did, and not go by your skin tone.

I would probably be a 1 or 2 in this bronzer if you asked the sales girl but I decided to go with the 3, as I know I will be getting more colour as the summer continues. These bronzers are very forgiving and blend and sheer on seamlessly. They are buildable without chalkiness and give you a truly believable sun kissed glow without the telltale shimmer.

NOTE: They look a lot lighter in the pan than they do when applied to skin so make sure you swatch before you choose.

I apply mine in a typical “3” shape, starting at the centre of my forehead and working down around the temple, to the cheek bone and along the jaw line. I also apply down the neck to ensure I don’t have a dark face and light neck! These powders apply sheer so you can build them to your desired shade from a light glow to a deep tan. These powders are said to contain honey which is moisturizing and won’t dry skin like traditional powders can. I’m not sure I can attest to this claim, it feels like a normal powder to me and I doubt a powder could have the ability to moisturize… Isn’t that an oxymoron? Anyway, it’s a soft, blendable powder nonetheless and a definite contender if you’re on the hunt for a matte bronzer with a great shade selection.
