There is "Hope" for Tinted Moisturizers! Thanks to Philosophy Hope in a Tinted Moisturizer
During the spring and summer, I like to switch my traditional foundations for a much lighter coverage. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I find my skin is always a lot nicer in the summer – less breakouts, more even tone – so I don’t feel the need for as much coverage. That, and I don’t want to feel anything on my face when it’s sweltering hot out and in the bright summer sun, you can see everything. Therefore, I switch to a tinted moisturizer or BB cream. Let’s be honest here, there a a “few” in my rotation, but this one stood out to me for a few reasons. Philosophy Hope in a Tinted Moisturizer is a sheer tint with all the benefits of the popular Hope in a Jar. It’s equipped with all the antioxidants and anti-agint benefits of the famous cream, along with a UVA/UVB SPF 20. (NOTE: this product isn’t available in Canada – no doubt because it doesn’t meet our SPF requirements)
I love when foundations, tinted moisturizers or plain moisturizers for that matter, contain an SPF. I hate having to apply 9 creams just to get what I want in my skin care, which obviously leaves my skin feeling heavy and covered in product. So when the chance comes that I can get all my wants in one single product, I simply must try it out! This tinted moisturizer comes in 8 shades, which is a pretty impressive range. I chose the Extra Light shade as I bought this in the winter when I truly was “extra light”.
As you can see in the photo, the extra light isn’t really that light. It still imparts a healthy dose of colour to the skin and doesn’t make you look too orange or too gothly pale. It actually provides a decent amount of coverage and I don’t find much need for a concealer when I wear this. It leaves a dewy, healthy finish that doesn’t play well with powders. If I want to apply a bronzer or blush over this I have to apply a loose setting powder to take down the dewiness first or I will end up with streaks and blotches all over my skin. This may be a problem for some but I don’t expect a perfect, satin finish from a tinted moisturizer – it’s to be expected that it leaves a dewy, pretty sheen behind.
This tinted moisturizer blends seamlessly, provides a light-medium coverage and finishes to a beautiful dewy sheen finish. It contains a boat load of skin helping ingredients and provides a complete SPF. When it comes to a tinted moisturizer, this has all the bases covered. Although it may be a little expensive, it’s well worth what you get and in a whopping 1.7 fl. oz size, it will last you a long time!
